1. Giant Panda


The giant Panda is a medium sized black-and-white bear that lives only in the mountainous temperate forests of south-west China. Giant pandas eat a diet of bamboo (about 99% of the total diet). The giant panda is not only the most threatened bear of the world but it is also one of the most endangered species on earth. Only about 1,600 of these rare bears are left. Out of which, 160 pandas are in zoos and breeding centers around the world, mostly in china.



2. Sun Bear

For the first time, the world's smallest bear species is listed as vulnerable in an IUCN report, meaning the species face a high risk of extinction in the wild.

3. Asiatic Black Bear

Listed as vulnerable in a November 12, 2007, IUCN report, this specoes is said to have declined by 30 to 49 percent  over the past 30 years.

4. Sloth Bear

Found predominantly in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, this species has been classified as vulnerable in a new IUCN report released on November 12, 2007.

5. Andean Bear


Also called the spectacled bears, Andean bears roam a variety of types of habitats from Argentina to Panama. The last of the so-called short-faced bears, the species is listed as vulnerable in a new IUCN report released on November 12, 2007.
